From The Book of Questions by Gregory Stock.

Question #26: Would you be willing to murder an innocent person if it would end hunger in the world?

No. I feel like world hunger should easily be able to be solved.
I think we just need to introduce the right invasive species of edible plants to different places and give people more knowledge of how to clean their water.

In my yard, I have a delicious edible plant growing like crazy and the way it is looked at is as a pest. but if it were to grow in a country where food is hard to come by, they would have a plant that is low maintenance to grow and that is nutritious and delicious.

I just wonder why there shouldn't be hidden gems of plants that could be planted in these countries where they might grow like crazy.

I don't know the way the soil is, and what its composed of, and what the climate is like in those countries, so maybe this is just an idealistic way of looking at things..

Anyway.. I would volunteer for that role rather than kill someone else.
The only way I would have that person killed is if they wanted to do it and it was the only way to end world hunger.

I also feel like unless you address the underlying causes, you'll only temporarily solve it, so it would be futile.
We humans just keep outpacing our resources with our population growth patterns. Fix that, we've fixed world hunger. Well, once we've also addressed the greed behind artificial shortages, and the power-grabs by withholding needed resources. There's a couple of big factors involved.
I don't see how any scenario could solve any of that with a single murder, no matter who the victim.

If killing one person would somehow magically and forever end world hunger, then yes, I would do it. It would be tough, but I think it would save a lot of lives.

Depends on if the person is willing to die. Or would that be assisted suicide?

A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears."

This makes me think of the premise of a library book I read a while ago, where the protagonist is a hitman and his client says the person she wants to hire him to kill is herself, since she doesn't believe in suicide, and somehow she figures hiring her own murder is different.

If the innocent person was ready and willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good, then yes.
