We went through the whole end of summer school supplies shopping and it got me to thinking about how I loved buying supplies that I liked.
I always had a ton of Lisa Frank supplies.
I wanted my sister to be able to buy stuff she wanted and not plain, boring stuff she wouldn't like.
She already has to wear a uniform so the only individuality she's allowed is her school supplies.
I think it's good to allow children to express their individuality and not smother their creativity and originality.
As someone that lives on the internet, I've come across the term "special snowflake" a lot.
People say "You're one of a kind!" and "You're not special!" but I disagree.
There is no one 100% like you and there never will be.
So I find telling people they're not special or unique really stupid in that sense.
I think you should always help build people up instead of tearing them day.
Never smother or censor someone's creativity and artwork.
And I see people saying something isn't original or it's been done too many times.
I disagree with this too.
People STILL love vampires, no matter how old and how many times vampire stuff has been done before.
Each person can take something and add things to it to make it different.
So just because something you write exists in some way, if you put your own spin on it - it'll be different and original.
What do you think?
