I'm afraid of spiders. Pretty common. I went to Florida once and met an old relative, a great aunt, or a great great aunt, or something like that! There was a tarantula on her ceiling, and she didn't even flinch. But she was afraid of these adorable tiny lizards that were all over the place outside.

What are you afraid of?

Is there anything that a lot of other people are afraid of but that you're not afraid of?

Have you ever met anyone with an unusual fear?

I'm afraid of people.
Especially strangers.
I don't feel safe around strangers.

I'm scared of large bodies of water.
Like rivers, lakes, oceans, etc.
When I see a picture of them, I immediately get an anxiety attack.
I can swim, but I'm terrified of drowning.
I've had dreams in which I was sinking into rivers and lakes.

A lot of ghost and demon stuff don't scare me.
I've seen and heard and read too much.

A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears."

I don't mind water or swimming, but I get scared if I'm in water and I can't see what else is in the water, especially if anything touched me!

I'm scared of spiders, mostly.
But I'm also a very jumpy person overall

I am not a strong swimmer, and I live near the sea. The first night I moved here, I had a dream about my pets being swept out into the ocean :c It doesn't affect me until I am faced with the idea of, say, boating or something.

I am scared of spiders, mostly only when they're directly affecting me (above my bed at night) or when they're enormouussss. England doesn't have any wild tarantulas or anything, but lordy, some of the garden varieties are beefy compared to our spindly little daddy long-legs. I can gather my courage to trap one and throw it outside, but can't have it touch me :mcargh:

Another personal fear is being cheated on. It's been a big thing since a couple of relationships ago and it gives me the occasional panic attack (my boyfriend is very understanding and lovely) when my depression is having a strong week and makes me susceptible to paranoia about it.

I'm scared of needles, knifes and any sharp objects. It's not that we can live without them, so I have to deal with my fear every day. It's not as bad as it used to be when I was a kid. But it still can freak me up sometimes.

I'm also afraid of intestines, blood and this kind of thing. Well, I'm not sure if "afraid" is a right word to describe it... But these things make me freak up really bad.
I can usually deal with blood, since, well, I'm a woman... But not always, sadly.

On the other hand, I don't have any popular fears, like spiders or snakes. I'm not comfortable if something big and dangerous is close to me, but that's all. Well, maybe it's because I don't live in Australia, there's nothing really dangerous where I live...

I want to practise my English. If you see any mistakes, please send me a pm.

Why do some people use such a small font size? It hurts my eyes... :mcdead:

Spiders, but not irrationally. I can list 100 rational reasons to be afraid of them. I watched way too much Discovery Channel and Animal Planet as a kid... It honestly scarred me.

I also have mild claustrophobia and this weird fear thing of being underwater. It's not of water, but I don't really like being under it. It's bad enough that I don't even actually have to be under the water. Like if I'm watching TV and the characters in the show go underwater, my heart starts beating fast and I begin hyperventilating. I can't watch certain things because of this. Baths and showers and pools I'm okay going under water with. It's mostly things like oceans, lakes, and ponds.

I have a really irrational fear of not being able to move. Not of being paralyzed (although that is scary too). But being stuck in a tight space. But it's not the space itself, it's the lack of movement. So I don't know if that counts as claustrophobia? I often dream about getting stuck in things like trap doors. Even if I am pulling a sweater over my head, and it kind of gets stuck, I panic.

I'm afraid of the kool-aid man for some inexplicable reason.

I will love you if I never see you again, and I will love you if I never see you again, and I will love you if I see you every Tuesday. I will love you as the starfish loves a coral reef and as kudzu loves trees, even if the oceans turn to sawdust and the trees fall in the forest without anyone around to hear them. I will love you as the pesto loves the fettuccini and ats the horseradish loves the miyagi, and the pepperoni loves the pizza.

@Sanssouci: The fear of getting stuck in trap doors and stuck in a sweater does sound a bit like a a form of claustrophobia. I don't know about the fear of not being able to move. I tried looking it up, but couldn't find a name for it.

@Madissskin: Heh, well he is pretty scary looking... and he has some issues.
