Ya it does. I didn't even realize that was what the day was to begin with and when I did I guess I was in shock the rest of the day. And then I read that the White House didn't even mention Jews in their speech for the day. Which of course pissed off so many people. And I forgot who was making excuses why it wasn't mentioned. And so many people saying the government shouldn't be covering 45's ass for what was done. They should be; in a sense; a parent teaching their child how to do it and what was wrong with what they did. Only way to put it since that was pretty much what I all read yesterday.

That's a good way to put it.

Yeah, they said they didn't mention Jews in their statement about the Holocaust because "other people died too." They All Lives Mattered the Holocaust. They said that because other groups got caught up in the genocide, the intended target of the genocide was no longer relevant. Part of the reason this is so important is that historically this argument, that the Holocaust wasn't specifically targeting the Jews, was used by Stalin. It's very strange for old Stalin propaganda to be coming out of the White House.

Course, then there's the fact that "America First" is the slogan of the old racist pro-fascist isolationist American Nazi movement...

Dr. Seuss even drew a cartoon about it. Image

On the bright side, the ACLU received over six times the amount of its standard yearly donations in one weekend. They usually get 3-4 million in an entire year. Over the last three days they have received over $24 million dollars to continue protecting our rights and civil liberties. :qh: Legit heroes.

Wow didn't know he drew something like that. Nice drawing though.

I know others died during WWII and even some of my Polish family did since they did come from the same city with the biggest most well known camp but to deny the main target is still bad. Yes others died but the main target should also be mentioned as well. Just not all bundled up in one thing. They kinda did a nice thing but at the same time not nice since they ignored the main reason for the day. Getting politically correct I guess. Weird how the government is doing that now. Never saw them try that. Even with 45 in office, you'd never think they'd try that one out for a change.

They doubled down on it today during a press conference too. Said the critics (including virtually every mainstream Jewish organization) were pathetic and nitpicking.

Normally, a politician would just make some kind of statement acknowledging the Final Solution as part of the Holocaust. This would end the whole story. But to perpetuate it, I think, means they are hoping it will be a useful distraction. I don't think it will continue as a distraction though. It's offensive, but it's not particularly important.

My heart is breaking for all the children who are being hurt by this executive order. I read a story about a 12 year old girl who has been living with her grandparents in Yemen, but her parents are US citizens. She had finally, after many years of vetting, received a visa to come and join them in the United States but the Executive Order was signed while she was on a plane. Now this 12 year old child is stranded in Djibouti (a small country in Africa). She can't go home to Yemen because she'll be killed, and she's not being allowed to reunite with her family in the United States. A child. In a foreign country. With no place to go, even though her parents are US citizens.

I can't wrap my mind around this. This whole thing was done in the most cruel way possible.

I I don't even know how the hell this all happened or is even allowed. That is sick as hell. A child should especially not have to deal with this crap at all. God things are just sickening. And me personally, and others out there want him impeached, but I know for a fact that process is hard as hell to even get anywhere and it's like our own national security doesn't even give a damn about the civil liberties of people being trampled on. It's like our entire system is brain washed and following a child for no good damn reason. I just don't understand how this being so bad right now. It's still like nothing can be done. Our system truly is messed up and I know for a fact our founding fathers had no idea their words would allow a mess to take place like this. I sure the hell hope not.

Saw this just now:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/ ... -1.3957686

I found out that I had family members in concentration camps during WWII.
My grandma's grandpa actually got taken away by some Nazis.
She ran up to one and kicked him.
He aimed his gun at her and was going to shoot her.
He stopped, smiled and said "You'll make a fine Nazi some day."
And they took her grandpa away.
My family is German. I didn't expect Germans to be held in concentration camps.
I asked my dad why they were there, and he said "Because our family doesn't like being told what to do >_>"
And when my grandma moved from Germany, and came to Texas, she went to a store with a friend.
The friend started acting like a belligerent, racist twit, and my grandma was so ashamed to know her.

I've had prejudice family members, but most of them are dead because they were old.
I've lived in my city my whole life, and I've never seen people, younger, acting like people are doing now.
I've never seen people attacking others for being anything but white.
I've seen people from all over the world.
I mentioned previously that there was a Sikh at the store.
No one bothered him. No one cared that he was there.
No one went up to him and called him a terrorist or Muslim or anything stupid.
He was just shopping like everyone else <_<

There's also a family that's been running this corner store down the street for decades.
I'm not sure what they are, but they're either Middle Eastern or maybe Indian.
I don't go to that store, but my mom and aunt have been a million times.
They're not dangerous or mean or anything.
And to think someone would just attack someone based on how they look and sound - is insane o___O

I don't know why it's so hard to not be an asshole xD
"That man isn't hurting anything, but he's not white so I'm gonna go fuck up his day \8u/"

A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears."

This satire piece from Alexandra Petri is amazing. Today Sean Spicer, Trump's press secretary, said that even a 5 year old could be a potential terrorist.

Yeah. A 5 YEAR OLD. Come on.

Anyway, this piece is definitely worth reading. Made me feel a lot better.

Uhhhhhhh....

So apparently GOP Congressional staffers have been secretly working with the White House without telling the Republican Congressmen they work for?

?????

Yeah...this is a full-on constitutional crisis.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/t ... der-234392

Edit: Okay, it's a little after 10:00 now. The Acting Attorney General declared the Department of Justice would not defend the Muslim Ban executive order in court. Shortly afterwards, Trump fired her and replaced her with someone else. He said she betrayed the United States. The crisis deepens.

Edit: Literally two minutes later. Now he's fired the Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director too. WTF?!

Edit: But to end the evening on a bright note, people have already raised a ton of money to help the mosque that got burned down in Texas. Where there is darkness, there is also light. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/01/a ... 25913.html

WoW Moi that surely is shocking. Didn't know Germans were treated that way. Sad my own German side of the family wanted me dead because I'm Polish trash and have no right to live because of it. >.> Morons I swear.

But at least there are some people who are decent out there. And I don't think it's hard to be kind to different people but I have no idea what goes through those who do that kind of things head. It might be easier to understand, for me at least, but I would rather never knowing. Might hurt my head trying to figure out their logic. Which might not be anything at all.

5 yrs old... ya sure they sure are terrorists..... You see them all over the place. My god people are idiots today. No child should be put through that. Especially if they are brought up in the states, they aren't subjected to that life like other places and children are. All they see is violence so 5yrs old being a terrorist isn't hard to believe but in countries like ours, I have a hard time believing that kind of thing.

And he surly is trying hard to push his own agenda. I still don't understand how any of this crap is even legal. And even goes with what our constitution says. To me there has to be stuff in there that is against what is going on. Nothing makes sense anymore and I wished I could understand how this crap is happening. But if our own government is doing this crap... We truly have the wrong kind of people in office and it won't get better until we get these morons out. And people had the nerve to say Clinton was worse as a President idea as 45. HAHAH Bull shit. I call major bullshit there.

But I will say, that last part about money being raised made me smile so at least there is some light in this world.

As far as the legality...the federal government appears to be ignoring judges who are issuing stays agains the executive order. The legality of all of this is a huge unanswered question.
