There is a 2.5% fee for conversion.
It's charged in different moments if you've added both currencies to your PayPal account and you have not, but it's the same fee.
* If you only have one currency (for example €):
In the transaction details appears the conversion.
It always includes de the 2.5% fee.
* If you have both currencies (€ and $):
The transaction details would be in $.
When you ask them to convert $ into € they'll charge you a 2.5% fee.
In my humble opinion you should use this option and check from time to time the conversion rate -changes 2 times a day- and make sure to convert it when you get a better rate.
If people from US or any other non-European country pays you in € you won't be charged any fee.
But it may be a bit more confusing for them.

There still seem to be some translation fees but it doesn't say anywhere how high they are, it only says that they are "similar" to the foreign currency translation fees from transferring different currencies into € to our bank account, whatever "similar" means... They only mention a fixed "0,35 Euro" fee for foreign currencies in addition the the normal money receiving fees, which always get distracted when we receive donations, so maybe it's worth trying out whether these still get distracted if we get the money in €.
There is always a 0.35€ + 3.4% of the amount received fee.
Even if they payment is totally processed in Euros.
If there is a currency conversion, there is an aditional 2.5%.
Buyers won't be charged anything, no matter the currency.
(I'm not sure if I am clearing it out or making it even messier...)
